Grandpa

This is a drawing I did in January, 2010 using ShinHan markers and a Staedtler Mars Graphic 3000 Duo brush pen. This is not my grandfather, but rather the grandfather of the person who took this photo, which I used as a reference. Unusually for me, I didn't sketch out the whole drawing before beginning, but began with the right eye and worked my way out. As a consequence, some of the proportions are a bit off, but overall I'm happy with the way this drawing turned out. It's not photo-realistic, but it does convey what I wanted it to, which is age and experience.
